The Quinta Azul is situated directly at the border river, the Seixe, between Alentejo and Algarve. Together with some other houses it is part of Baiona, district of Teotónio,
province of Odemira. There are various routes to the Quinta Azul.
The best is to go by plane. We recommend a ticket to Faro Airport, because it offers good connections with the main European cities. Beside this, in Lisbon the assortment of
hired cars is not as large as in Faro. Some car hire services in Faro pick you up at the airport and bring you to the car depot. We’ve made good experiences with Auto Jardim. Cars like Clio, Corsa or
Twingo usually cost from 100 to 225 Euro depending on the season. Child seats are also available, but frequently in bad conditions.
Going by car from Faro, you pass through Portimão, Lagos, Aljezur and finally Odeceixe. Then, directly after a bridge, you turn into a narrow road. Another 2.5 km
straight on and you will see a group of five houses on a hill. At this point you turn right towards the entrance of our office where you get the keys. Welcome!
Coming from Lisbon, you should take the motorway (auto-estrada). Pass over the new bridge in direction of Algarve. Leave the motorway at the exit Grandola (before Sines).
Turn off from the IP8 to the N120 and continue to Cercal. You pass through Odemira, São Teotonio and finally, reach Baiona. In the sharp right-hand bend in front of the bridge, turn left into a small, badly paved way. After another 2.5 km, you will see the houses of the Quinta Azul on the right hand. Please, go up the hill and leave your car on the car park.
Always put on your safety belt. The Portuguese Police (GNR or Rurales) doesn’t tolerate traffic offences and there is no language barrier that could protect you –
many officers speak some English and don’t shy away from confiscating your car. The main offences are not to put the safety belt, to overtake despite of the solid line and not to have required documents.
